An air-supported structure is a building system that uses a special architectural membrane as its outer shell, equipped with an intelligent air supply pressurization system to provide a slight positive air pressure inside the structure, supporting the main body of the building. A complete air-supported structure system also includes lighting and access control systems.
Inflatable membrane structures are a type of membrane structure, mainly divided into air-supported membrane structures and air-inflated membrane structures (including air-rib, air-cushion, and air-cell types).

1. The air-supported structure relies on the internal-external air pressure difference to support the entire building. Due to the flexibility of the material and the inherent efficiency of the structure with its curved shape, there are no bending, torsion, or compression components.
2. No internal framework or beams and columns are required, allowing spans of over 200 meters (with a single span reaching 205 meters).
3. As atmospheric pressure increases, the environmental oxygen level rises. Therefore, the air pressure difference inside and outside the structure not only has no adverse effects but also aids in sports activities or physical work. Typically, the internal-external pressure difference is 250Pa, approximately 0.0025 atmospheres (equivalent to the pressure difference between the 1st and 9th floors of a conventional building).
4. An external diagonal orthogonal cable net system is used to reduce the load on the membrane, extend the building's lifespan, and meet international permanent building standards and codes.

The air-supported structure system generally includes: foundation system, membrane system, cable net system, access control system (airtight entrance), lighting system, insulation system, and control system. Among these, the intelligent control system is the core, integrating air supply pressurization, environmental monitoring (e.g., air pressure, dust concentration, temperature, humidity), fresh air regulation, safety alerts, and remote monitoring, enabling unmanned operation and adaptive adjustment.

Air-supported structures can be used for the following purposes:
1. Constructing year-round entertainment or sports venues: golf driving ranges, swimming pools, tennis/badminton halls, basketball halls, and volleyball halls.
2. Hosting expositions and exhibitions: venues requiring large spaces and periodic use, such as expo centers and exhibition halls.
3. Providing industrial or commercial storage or production workshops: industrial plants and warehouses requiring ultra-high, large spaces.
4. Green construction applications (pit air domes): As a new engineering protective measure, they are used for fully enclosed coverage of construction pits, subway stations, and other work areas, controlling dust (reducing over 90%) and noise (reducing over 80%) at the source. They enable all-weather, all-season operations and can be disassembled for reuse.
5. Integrated photovoltaic-air membrane applications: Flexible photovoltaic components are combined with air-supported membranes to create "PV air domes," achieving green energy "self-generation and consumption, with excess power fed into the grid."
6. Developing temporary agricultural production and research facilities: agricultural ecology research simulation spaces, botanical gardens, and large park greenhouses.
7. Easily movable and reconfigurable temporary facilities: large-scale construction site command and conference centers, temporary gathering places for disaster relief supplies. Additionally, they are commonly used to build emergency sites such as field hospitals, disaster response, earthquake relief, and comprehensive support operations.
